Political Career: | Founded Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in 1996. Ran for National Assembly seat in 1997, losing both elections. Supported General Pervez Musharraf's military coup in 1999. Elected to the National Assembly in 2002 from Mianwali. Resigned from Parliament in 2007 in protest of upcoming presidential election. PTI emerged as the second largest party in the 2013 Pakistan General Election. Alleged rigging of 2013 elections in favor of ruling Pakistan Muslim Leaque in 2014.
